Happy Monday! I’m feeling John Mayer this week. I loved his new CD Battle Studies before its release, and now that I’ve listened to it fifty-eleven times, I love it even more. This is a repeat post, (originally posted in March 2008) because it perfectly describes how I feel…included are my favorite JM songs:

I have a thing…I heard this song, sung by this voice, and fell instantly in love:

If you listen closely, the words say that daughters learn how to love the way they are loved. True…broken people lead to broken relationships. So it’s not only this heavenly voice, it’s also a soul that thinks and feels and somehow is able to put his finger on just the right pulse of things. There are only a few artists that can sing me to sleep; JM is one of them…

And then, as my love continues to blossom for him, I discover that he has a sense of humor. One night, as I am watching the Dave Chappelle Show, I see him hanging out with Dave, with his guitar, trying to prove the point that white people can’t dance and it’s the guitar that is the underlying reason…hilarious! He makes frequent stand-up appearances at a comedy spot in New York, and operates a blog (!!) that I read on the regular…

After I wore out “Heavier Things” (the CD that contains “Daughters“), I moved on to JM’s ”Continuum.” This CD is chock full of jewels: “Waiting On The World To Change,” ”Gravity,” ” “I’m Gonna Find Another You,” and this, my favorite…

That song puts me in the mind of thinking that even though there are things against you, you must always pull forward…it’s so soulful and powerful, yet so simple and honest…it just blows me away every time I hear it…I feel like I should be in New Orleans in a small smoky club with a Long Island Iced Tea in front of me, along with lots of seafood and hot sauce somewhere nearby…

Last but not least, “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room“…(((deep sigh)))

This man…I don’t know where he got it from, but he has a musical ear that is uncanny. He acknowledges that he is a student of music; I say that he has learned well…

It’s all love… Kisses

He is an awesome musician. I saw him several times at small clubs when I was in ny. Until I actually saw him play I had no idea ow good he was. He is a bit of a dick though. ;)
  • FD - he most certainly does...(((deep sigh)))
  • O - I think he acts that way because he hates the "cute" tag...I have watched him in interviews and he is such a brat! But brilliance will do that to you...

As far as his choices of women...um, you can't be right all the time...
  • I also love his songwriting. He's got the goods, this one!
And as good as he is now, he's only going to get better with time. Just imagine!

Daughters is one of my favorites as well. Love the message of that song!
  • John Mayer is sexy I won't lie but I also find him to be pretentious and egotistical at times. Perhaps it has to do with John's age? Even though John and I are around the same age? But that's another story. Anyway, I will say this though John Mayer is a very talented artist but I wonder if he likes the media depiction of him as just a pretty boy? John definitely wants the press to make him more seriously as a serious musician? I like that song of his something about changing the world? But when John dates ding bats like Jessica Simpson he's got to expect the media to pay attention to his love life.
  • Yeah, I am...
  • You're SO crushing on The Mayer. LOL!
  • His voice is just...beautiful...
  • I love "Waiting On The World To Change"!
    I also love JM's voice
