I wrote about Troy Davis back in September of 2008. Back then, he was sitting on Death Row, and I had this to say:

My question is this: if the witnesses who said they saw this man commit this crime, recanted their stories…and others claim someone else pulled the trigger, why isn’t this enough for a new trial? Moreover, this case has garnered attention by former President Carter, Desmond Tutu, and others…you would think that would point to reasoning that this man deserves, at the very least, a new trial.

Well, Troy Davis is still on Death Row, and his situation is crucial. There are times when we have to pick our battles and times when we have to walk away. This is one of those times when we have to fight for what is right. Fighting for this man to get the justice that is due to him is the right thing to do.

Visit the Amnesty International Page and complete the online letter to send a message to the Governor of Georgia asking him to support clemency for Troy Davis. Please feel free to pass this video on to others or direct them here to see it…whatever it takes to get the message out.

Justice. That’s all we ask.

Justice.

Peace and blessings…

  • It's almost like these Judges don't want to do the job they're supposed to do. Almost likes it's beneath them to "gasp" judge things!
  • Well done for posting on this issue. It is vitally important to bring this to as many people's attention as possible.

    Goosebumps indeed!!!

The problem is that this happened at a time when you err on the side executing, especially if you're of color! I really don't think that, after all these years, Troy Davis is going to get a break, because that would be admitting that the folks who put him there were wrong, and we all know how much the U.S. just LOVES to admit they're wrong!
  • Frightfully, I'm afraid you are right, Wil...after all this time, admitting that a mistake has been made would be too much like right.

But the effort has got to be made, right? I would feel completely wrong if I didn't say something...
  • I applaud all who joined in this effort.
Sadly, I also agree with Wilfredo...
After all is said and done this is out of our hands.
    I also posted about Mr.Davis.

Much obliged, Marva for this post. I've posted a link to each participant's post on my spot. Hope you get a chance to get by there. Left you a little something...
  • Frequently prosecutors operate the like the mad scientist in horror movies, never willing to admit they've made a wrong turn like they're gods. Sad for them and worse for us an people like Troy Davis.

Much obliged for participating in this important call to action. I hope you will accept a token of my appreciation left at the old SjP’s for you. Just learned that MSM is being denied access to Troy.
