Happy OSF, people! Welcome to my new digs…

The theme this week is Family Reunion (Bar-B-Que, or Picnic…pick your preference). My family’s reunions are classic…the food, the camaraderie, the music…all of it joins together to make for a memorable experience. Speaking of which, we’ve got a family reunion coming up in July, down in Louisiana…

What kind of music, you ask? We are pretty diverse, so you could hear The O’Jays playing in one corner, and Tupac playing in another. Go in the house and there could be some Johnnie Taylor playing in the kitchen. But believe you me, somewhere there would always—and I do mean always—be some of this playing…

  • Yeah, Maze is big down here. They're playing this weekend, btw, at Jazzfest. So, you're showing your Louisiana roots. My cousins and a friend went to an anniversary party recently in another state and were upset that the DJ didn't know and didn't have any Frankie Beverly and Maze. ;-) Happy OSF!
  • Frankie B is the man! So smooth... Happy OSF.
  • Anything with Frankie Beverly is a Reunion.. His music brings people together...

Frankie Beverly is the man! Happy OSF!

The best concerts I've ever been to were Frankie Beverly concerts. I am overdue for a dose of Maze.

Yup. Maze has got to be pumping here, too. I picked "Golden Time of Day"--classic summertime song!

    Happy OSF!
  • Sounds like a spin off of my family reunions. Maze has smooth on lock. :)
  • I have never attended a family reunion but I have attended a few school reunions! So I took the liberty of "adjusting" the theme (once again!) to suit my own nefarious purposes:

Family Reunion or School Reunion - it's all Rock and Roll to me!

    Happy OSF!
  • I KNEW somebody was gonna come through with some Frankie! 'Cause summer and barbeques ain't hardly the same without some Maze in the mix.
  • Absolutely love these picks! I've been awaf from OSF too long. I've just been so busy lately.

And it's a crying shame that I'm from New Orleans, and have never seen them perform at Essence Fest.
  • Don't tell SJP but ... I was never a big Frankie Beverly fan. I can count the songs of his that I like on one hand. But Joy & Pain is in the top 3!
    Have a great weekend!

LOL!!! Too Late! She told me! LOL!!!
  • Love me some Frankie, and Joy and Pain is one of those songs that both old school and new school c an enjoy.
  • That was the first song that popped into my head, no joke. But I went a totally different way! :)

    Great minds think alike!

    Happy OSF!

Frankie and Maze were a staple for me back in the day. I'm right there with you on this Marvalus.

I WANNA THANK YOU!!!! Girl, you know I just LOVE Frankie Beverly and Maze. Doesn't matter to me that they haven't come out with a new cut in what - 20 years (lol) - I just love them!

Marvalus - I LOVE the new digs. What an awesome layout. I didn't post this week but still wanted to show some love. Great choices, and theme, as usual. Enjoy the weekend.
  • Thanks to everyone for dropping by and participating this week! See ya next week!
