How much fun is this?! I love Hip-Hop…always have, always will (most likely). There is something about lyrically rhyming, dope beats, and the swagger that just gets me pumped. I grew up with it, I have lived through the highs and lows, and I, just like Hip-Hop, have had my share of disappointments. But there are always those moments that we celebrate; when things seem the darkest, something comes along and reminds us why we attached ourselves to this art in the first place. I guess that’s why I will never let it go.

Props to Lyte…

  • You just took me back (way back) to my High School days!!
  • You Gots To Chill is a popular choice today....as is Lyte. I'm not mad about either one :mrgreen:

    Lyte still got it all these years later. You know it's old school when he said you got this bad Jetta. Whattt! Jettas used to be the ish back in the day!

    Happy OSF Marvalus!

    Awwwwww shoot! You did not post "Paper Thin." Lyte is my girl. Always has been and will be. People just don't even know how skilled she was. Folks talk about Salt n Pepa all the time, but Lyte brought the serious flow.

    Eric & Parish Making Dollars! I remember the first time I saw this video and loved them immediately. I loved the whole Business theme of their albums.

    Great stuff Marva! I'm on vacation, but had to check in on this meme. :wink:

    I loved MC Lyte! Those were the days when a sista could rhyme and not have to talk about sexing some dude or be half naked to sell or get respect! I keep waiting for the next female rapper....
  • I didn't know i was called...you gots to chill! But i hear this song all the time;
  • MC Lyte just makes you want to get up and either rhyme or dance. I love how she transitioned from the B-Girl to grown woman look too.
  • We had the Lyte tape, as well. Mc Lyte was the pioneer.I knew when I came to his blog I was going to get something good.
  • Loved it! Great picks :grin:
  • I thought about posting Lyte, but...Happy OSF! Enjoy the weekend!
  • I don't know either song or artist. I was probably jammin’ to another genre at that particular time. Thanks for the introduction though!
  • not that you broke out with 'the green-eyed bandit'...lol. i am definitely feelin' lyte wit' her pretty self.

    great picks!
  • This is great! Elated to find this connection :razz:
