The world is still crazy, but we shall remain positive! At least we shall try…

10 – No Matter What

I like T. I.; even through his faults, I believe he realizes his mistakes and is earnestly trying to make amends and clean up his act. He has a new song, “No Matter What” that is really hitting home with me…especially these lyrics right here:

I lost my partner and my daughter in the same year
Somehow I rise above my problems and remain here
Yeah…
And I hope the picture painted clear
If your heart filled with faith then you can’t fear
wonder how I face years and I’m still chillin
Easy, let go and let God deal with it…

Now that’s real…

9 – 300

I just finished watching this movie for the first time…how come nobody told me it was this good?! My not going to the movies has me missing out on some good flicks…I may need to reconsider…

8 – Unity!

Barack and Hillary appeared in Unity, NH…they entered to U2’s “Beautiful Day” and the speeches were full of love and appreciation, admiration and coercion. I take it at face value; they are trying to present a united front; I say let them…I’m tired of the MSM reading between the lines, trying to decipher what is really meant by what is said, body language, and ”are the smiles and laughter real?”…let it go. We have more important things to focus on…

7 – Speaking of Unity

The Queen wants to know: “Who you callin’ a bitch?!” Mad flow…

6 – Shaking My Head

Today, some teenager climbed a fence at Six Flags over Georgia and was decapitated by a moving roller coaster. The fence was in a restricted area…apparently he was trying to retrieve a hat he lost. Um, when the sign says “restricted area” doesn’t that mean, don’t go in there? Where is the common sense? A hat can be replaced…you want to risk your life for it? I mean, come on…

5 – Crackhead Amy

This weekend marked the celebration of Nelson Mandela’s birthday in London. Tons of stars turned out, including Denzel and Pauletta, Oprah, Will and Jada, Robert DeNiro, Forrest Whitaker, Bill Clinton, and…Amy Winehouse? She was a performer at the concert honoring Mr. Mandela…um, they couldn’t find a clean and sober person to do this? I personally don’t think she is worth the attention…if she wants to ruin her life, let her go somewhere out of the limelight to do it. I’m all for giving people second chances, but she has to want it, and it doesn’t look to me like she does.

4 – Have You Been Tested?

Today is National HIV Testing Day…when was the last time you had yourself tested? If you hesitated, then you need to schedule a test…ASAP.

3 – Consequences and Repercussions

This has to be one of the funniest movies…Eddie and Martin were so good together in this one…

2 – I Can’t Live Without It

If there is one thing I would be hard pressed to do without, it would have to be my PC…I am here most of the day, doing research, writing, reading, trolling…I don’t know what I would do without it. I’m thinking though of trading in my desktop for a laptop…I should have probably thought of that before I purchased the new desktop, but now that my son is headed toward middle school, the desktop won’t go without use. I will have to give that some more thought…

What can you not do without?

1 – Testimony

I don’t mean to harp on this…well, yes, I kinda do. I never would have made it without God. He has brought me through so much, and relying on my faith has made me realize how far I’ve come from where I was just a year ago. I am thankful, I am humbled, and I am oh-so-happy that I am able to tell any and everyone I can my story.

Have a good weekend, y’all!

  • 10 - t.i. is gonna be alright. i didn't always care for this brotha, but he is actually one of my favorites in the hip-hop game; i kinda like what he stands for because he is man enough to accept the consequences of his actions.

09 - i saw '300' when it came out. i thought it was an alright movie, but i was honestly expecting more from it.

08 - i think i am just ready for the race to be over period. put the brotha in office right now and let him get to work on reshaping this country and making it better.

07 - hey, i actually have a t-shirt in my store under 'hillary clinton' where she says 'who you callin' a bitch!?" i hope you don't mind my shameless plug :-] anyway, this is one of my favorite latifah songs.

06 - ahhh...if anything i feel sorry for the parents that had to hear the news that their hard-headed son lost his head over a stupid-azz hat. smh too!

05 - poor amy. she needs to drink like five weight-gain shakes per day.

04 - i refuse to get tested because i don't want to get any bad news. sike! i am in perfect physical health.

03 - when i saw this part, i forgot how funny it was. i truly was LOL when eddie got to runnin' his mouth. "if this spoon was sharp enough, i'd stab a n*gga right now...." hilarious!

02 - i can't live without my pc/laptop either. my business is based on my pc/laptop accessibility. plus with the pc i can go on youtube and have my share of laughs.

01 - simply put: god is good!
  • Ditto on being without the PC. It was an investment when I bought my first one in 1999. Now it's a lifeline!

On the kid who had a fatal accident. Kids, even adults are taking risks. I'm sorry this one ended in a fatality. Sad. It's a loss of life that could have been avoided. Now Six Flags will have to do more. They are not totally to blame, but now we see the possibility of what could happen. I hear a lawsuit in the near future.

By the way, I added the URL to Alleluia Devotional. Stop by when you can!
  • I forgot to comment on the young man who died at Six Flags outside Atlanta, GA...since we live not too far from there...

That young man wasn't trying to retrieve a hat. Even so, it had to be awfully windy for his hat to fly off his head into the area where he was struck. He jumped two fences to get into a restricted area - and it was clearly marked as restricted. No one deserves to die like that, yet, it was an incredibly foolish thing to do. When I heard the report this past weekend, it hurt my heart.
  • I'm a little late here...

I became a T.I. fan after that movie that he did with the roller skating (I can't remember the name). Being down here in Atlanta, he gets enough publicity, not always good. But it seems he's trying to do some good things with the youth down here. I hope and pray he surrounds himself with some good people and some mentors that can help him get over the craziness he's going through as a result of his being charged with possession of high powered guns and what-not.

I was also wondering why Winehouse was chosen to sing for Mandela. Didn't Will Smith organize this effort, and if he did (or whoever), what was he thinking?

That PC thing is no joke. I'm working on mine quite a bit, even during the summer, trying to update my curriculum as I do each year. The great thing is this summer, my school provided those of us who wanted one with a laptop. I've had a Dell laptop in the past and was very happy with it. I think they become obsolete a little quicker than desktops, but I loved it. I have a Toshiba Tablet PC now (through the school), and it is absolutely fabulous! Especially with a wireless router!!!

    Thanks again, Marva!
  • I love this post. I needed to do a similar one Friday but time is not on my side lately! :???:

    8. My mother is convinced he is going to choose her as his running mate. I wash her mouth out with soap every time she says that mess.

    6. I was sickened when I heard that story this morning. How tragic! You know how kids are though. They think they are invincible. I just hope his parents (or the church group) did not condone him going back there. Horrible accident.

    5. I am SO over her. Whoever it was making this decision must be on crack too! WHY?! Send Sj & The Dap Kings over there if you want that Motown sound. Jeez!

    4. Yup yup! I've been tested recently and thank you for highlighting that important day. I'm about to look into volunteering with an org (s) that support women who are HIV positive. So this is very important to me.

    2. Me and you both! I am about to purchase a new laptop actually...this weekend while the sales are going on. Between that and my smartphone (about to switch to a BB) I can't live without my technology. Sad.
  • I want a laptop myself. I'm about start getting my travel on again (I'm a nomad at heart) and I want the mobility.

You aren't harping on anything by thanking God for your life Marva. No apologies.

300 was visually stunning, but failed to make me feel anything for the characters. Lots of hot ass half naked men tho. ;)

LA killed it on U.N.I.T.Y. Still a favorite of mine.

I like T.I. to and I really thought he was a semi intelligent brotha. But to have that many illegal guns is just ridiculous so I can't feel for the cat in this situation. I like the song though.

300 is a really good movie. I figured you would have seen it by now.

I can't live with out my PC either. I have the Xbox, PS3 & the PC jockeying for my attention when I get my free time.

    Have a good week "M"
  • 6- I guess God does not look after fools.

5- Im so disappointed in her if any one needs saving it's her, on another note I heard Ms. Naomi Campbell was npt allowed on sight.
  • 10) We all come with our faults. One more reason why I cannot look at him and say this dude is jacked. We are all jacked in some way. This is of course depending on who is looking at us. I'll have to check out his new works and see whats up.

    9) 300 was that movie. I know for me it turned out to be a great time at the gym. They started the 300 work out. One of the best months of my life working out to what programs they put together around it. But aside from the work out the story in that movie was amazing, down right inspiring.

    6) When I heard that story I kept thinking about the many accidents that occur at amusement parks. I'm not sure on what kind of hat it was or the state of this persons mind but you're right... Hats are replacable. Life, not so much.

    2) My camera. I cannot live without it. I capture so many moments with it. Either trying to keep up with the Wordless Wednesday posts or just taking pics of the fam... Those Kodak Moments are always priceless.
  • I just want to comment of Amy WINEhouse because she loves to get her high on..It is so sad that she doesn't realize how blessed she is. I was reading about how she went to the store and got a few bottles of liquor right before she went to see her husband in jail. She was supposed to be going to a photo op with Will Smith and a few other celebs involved in the Concert for Mr. Mandela. I guess she thought going to see her man in jail was wayyy more important. I'm still not understanding why people are still actually booking her for appearances. She has talent but she loves to get high way too much to be considered reliable. She is wasted talent. If finding out you have early signs of emphysema doesn't stop you from smoking and drinking nothing will. I just hope she lives long enough to get on the right track. Starting with maybe getting rid of her husband.

Peace and Blessings to you Marvalus
  • Jeannine
P.S. This is what I could not/would not want to do without: my precious puppy-dog, Sophie MM. I'm oh-so-thankful for her pure love and her genuine excitement to see me walk in the door each day. I've never been able to get that kind of consistency from another human being...sad, huh?
  • Jeannine
I LOVE my laptop - wireless is THE way to go...my laptop goes where I go and I use it all the time now vs. not wanting to carry my lazy butt ALL THE WAY to the computer room to use the desktop. You can use a laptop on the couch, in your bed, on the patio, on the toilet, during dinner, in the car, in many restaurants/coffee shops...you get the picture. It really is nice and, like I said, I LOVE MY LAPTOP!
  • 10) I haven't heard T.I. new song. I'm going to have to search for it.

    9) Haven't seen 300 yet.

    6) It is so sad that he didn't practice the gift God gave of common sense.

    5) A friend of mine and I were laughing about Amy yesterday. The thing is I feel somewhat bad for her that she can't see how badly she needs to get her life together. Maybe Whitney can talk to her.

    2) I have become addicted to the internet. I have a desk top but, sharing with two kids was a little much so, I brought a laptop for me. Once I tried to cut back on bills. So, I decided it was either the internet or cable. I went with cable and discovered after only a month. I can't live without that either. Even if I don't watch tv I like the comfort in knowing I got it.

1)You are only speaking the truth. And helping others to see it too.
