I’m a little behind, so I’m trying to catch up today…

I like my superheroes to appear a little human; I like them to be strong and rough around the edges, but I also like them to show a degree of emotion, a touch of a soft side. I think that is why I didn’t like the first Hulk movie…that dude was just emotionless. He tore through the movie on a rampage, but for what? I never knew…

But this Hulk, the Incredible one, was just that…incredible! Edward Norton did a very good job of according this Hulk with feelings…I liked that. Edward, I think, is the better Hulk because he is better at eliciting a response from the audience. You feel for him, you want him to win…I just didn’t feel that for Eric Bana.

TIH didn’t have me gripping my seat like Iron Man; I put it at a close second. What TIH did have me do was root for the hero…I wanted him to win. And against a very strong adversary (the Abomination), TIH was put to the test. He was smaller, but smarter…he didn’t rely on his strength alone; I liked that too. The action was good, the fights were good, the acting was good…it was a good movie for the kids and for adults like me that want to lose themselves for 90 minutes of watching a good fight between comic book characters.

Overall, a good summer movie. I would recommend taking the kids (go during the day…it’s cheaper!) and enjoy. I have a totally separate post on the cost of movies these days…I won’t go into that here, but I will say that is why my visits are few and far between (with the exception of these past two films and Hancock…gotta see Will!)…

Rating: 8

Next Up: I don’t know…I still haven’t watched The Great Debaters

  • I'm making it my business to see it.

One way to get in all the movies: movie marathon (or what some people call the theater hop). I know it isn't legal but they are robbing us eyes wide open anyway.

    Excellent review.
  • this new hulk is a lot more fun than the first one with Eric Bana; as usual Ed Norton has gravitated to a "split personality" role...

@Urban Thought - Theatre Hop...hmm, now there is a thought...

@patrick - Hey there Patrick! Thanks for stopping in! I agree with you...more fun with this Hulk!
  • I haven't been to a movie in some time though afternoon is the best time cost wise. i was just trying looking at both Iron Man and Hulk and trying to decide which would be the best bet.

Too difficult to comment on the final fight scene without leaving spoilers for others who may not have seen it, but its conclusion was too much of an eyeroller for me to enjoy. Other than that I really loved the movie.

@cooper - I usually don't do movies (it's just too damn expensive)...but seeing as how I'm home during the day during my unemployment days, it fills the time...but I do have a gripe against the prices...more on this later...

@Jon - Hey there, Jon! Thanks for stopping in! I can see how that final fight scene would be an eyeroller for some...I'm glad that you loved the movie, despite that!
  • We all know I loved this movie. I loved Iron Man. And I love superheros.

Funny story. That picture on your post. I wanted one and they had them hanging all around the moive complex. So, I went up to one of the guys and ask if I could have one or if they had any extras. I really wanted that poster (for my son's room who I decorate for me) I love the way it looks. Him and his alter ego. Anyway the guy was like, I don't know. What kind of anser was that?
I should have asked for a manger instead I decided I was just goin to yank one off the wall. My daughter gets scared when I go to snatch it and screams No Mommy. I am holding the corner of the poster.
I left without the poster. I am going to go to the comic book store and see if they have one.

@Sharon - That is too funny! My mom is like that...I used to be like your daughter, but I've gotten some nice shit with her doing this, so I'm cool now...
