I’m a little behind, so I’m trying to catch up today…
I like my superheroes to appear a little human; I like them to be strong and rough around the edges, but I also like them to show a degree of emotion, a touch of a soft side. I think that is why I didn’t like the first Hulk movie…that dude was just emotionless. He tore through the movie on a rampage, but for what? I never knew…
But this Hulk, the Incredible one, was just that…incredible! Edward Norton did a very good job of according this Hulk with feelings…I liked that. Edward, I think, is the better Hulk because he is better at eliciting a response from the audience. You feel for him, you want him to win…I just didn’t feel that for Eric Bana.
TIH didn’t have me gripping my seat like Iron Man; I put it at a close second. What TIH did have me do was root for the hero…I wanted him to win. And against a very strong adversary (the Abomination), TIH was put to the test. He was smaller, but smarter…he didn’t rely on his strength alone; I liked that too. The action was good, the fights were good, the acting was good…it was a good movie for the kids and for adults like me that want to lose themselves for 90 minutes of watching a good fight between comic book characters.
Overall, a good summer movie. I would recommend taking the kids (go during the day…it’s cheaper!) and enjoy. I have a totally separate post on the cost of movies these days…I won’t go into that here, but I will say that is why my visits are few and far between (with the exception of these past two films and Hancock…gotta see Will!)…
Rating: 8
Next Up: I don’t know…I still haven’t watched The Great Debaters…
