Old School Friday: Movie Songs

I love a good movie…and if I can take a song away from a movie that stays with me forever, then that is twice as good.

There are just two movies that I claim as my very favorite: this one and the one following. This one because it shows the strength of women. We can rise from anything to become whatever it is that we want. I cherish this movie because I always feel empowered and better because of watching it…I chose this song because no matter what, “God can fix it for you, if you trust him”…

I remember watching this movie and falling completely in love with it. There was just something ’bout the way this movie made me feel that has made it my other favorite movie of all time…and this scene pretty much captures the essence of why:

Last, but certainly not least…I stood in the movie theatre, along with several others, and cheered after this scene…breathtaking!

Excellent choices this week. You are probably schooling some folks on where En Vogue's video/remake emerged from. True tear jerker scene from CP, especially for those with Daddy issues. And dare I say that JHud's version dared to touch JHoliday's. :shock:

I know absolutely NOTHING about the first two videos, but I am familiar with Jennifer's rendition of "I'm Telling You"! When I watched that video I found myself laughing thinking about that boy that went on 'American Idol' and botched that song up...geez, it was too funny!

I absolutely adore the Sparkle soundtrack.

I did not know this week's theme was soundtracks until after I posted mine (I inserted the first sentence afterward). How ironic I chose something else, haha I didn't get the memo...

I have to get the movie Sparkle. I haven't seen that in years. I mean years.

Girl one day we are gonna have to sit down and chat face to face!! I posted CP also and had Sparkle for my Black 70's pick and then changed it to Claudine!

You did it this week, (iriegal standing and applauding your choices!)....whew, took me back with "Sparkle." That movie could of parelled some of the mistakes I have made in my life..

I loved the fact you actually got 3 songs from the soundtrack in there. Of course Jennifer goes without saying (deamgirls), that scene from the color purple lists as one of the most memorable. again great choices!
