I was watching “Good Morning America” this morning, as I always do, while getting dressed and I saw this story of this 11-year-old boy, David Murphy, who saved his life and the lives of his schoolmates by taking over control of the school bus they were on and preventing it from crashing.

So many times we hear of children who are up to no good (the kids who were planning on attacking the teacher, the girl who got jumped on, etc.), and this story just made my day. Apparently, the bus driver stopped at a gas station (while the kids were on the bus!), pumped the gas, and went inside the gas station and left the bus running. The bus began to roll toward a semi-truck and David, with his quick thinking, grabbed the wheel and turned the bus away from the semi.

First, isn’t it against the law for the bus driver to leave the bus? And why wasn’t the bus fueled prior to the kids being boarded? The story on msnbc.com reports that the driver has a valid commercial driver’s license, but is not registered with the state as is required.

This child deserves all of the pats on the back he can get for thinking and acting quickly. Lord knows what would have happened if he hadn’t…

It’s all love… Kisses

  • Sharon - I get so tired of hearing the bad news...it was nice to hear a good story for once...

D - I checked out your spot...nice!!! I added you to the blogroll...
  • Kudos to that young man. He deserves it. We need to appreciate our kids when they do good things. All we ever hear is negative stuff.

Miss Marva - you know I closed down WOTS, but if you click my name, you'll see its replacement. I hope you like the site. It's a totally new look.
  • That was nice to read. I am sitting here watching the Today Show. And there was a girl who attacked her teacher. So, it's nice to hear something good. Too bad on the news, stories of good, are few and far between.
