Dec 032007

I don’t make resolutions…I make goals. These are things that I want to do in 2008…I made this list (in my head) on my birthday of things that I want to do in 2008…these are the fluff things; I won’t bore you with the deep-down, Marva things…

See a play on Broadway

I love a good musical…ever since The Color Purple became a musical, I’ve wanted to see it…I don’t think I will make it before Fantasia’s run ends in February, but I still want to see it…I hope I make it…

Take my son to Disney World

Yeah, he’s 12…but every kid deserves to go to Disney World…

Take a “Me” trip

Either to New York City to see that Broadway show, Chicago (again) for major shopping, or to a spa retreat where I can go and be me…by myself…

Finish my book

I’ve started, and restarted this book for about 3 years now…I want to focus on getting it done next year.

Learn to Salsa

I’ve always wanted to learn…I’m going to sign up and take a class and then go out and Salsa dance as often as I can…I’m going to buy one of those cute dresses that fly up when I twirl around and some cute Salsa shoes and burn up somebody’s dance floor!

Recognize Family Birthdays and Special Events

I used to be good at this; then I fell off…I get a kick out of sending cards; I even used to make them myself…I want to get back to doing that…

Treat myself well

I do this pretty well anyway, but I want to take it to another level…spiritually, physically, mentally…

Spread Love

There is so much more that I think I can give…I don’t want to wear myself out but I want to give what I can…volunteer more, spend more time with my fam, etc.

See more movies

My movie watching has fell off…I pay for Netflix and most of the time, I end up sending the movies back before I even watch them because I lose interest…I want to see all the good movies and be able to speak intelligently about them in conversation.

Keep a clean house

This is harder than it seems…with a full-time job, a 12-year-old boy who is very busy, and not that much time spent in my house, house cleaning takes a back seat…sure I do sweep throughs so my house is not nasty; it’s livable, but sometimes, we end up stepping over backpacks and my computer bag and pushing mail off the dining room table…not cool…

Told you it was kinda boring…but I had to put it in writing somewhere!

It’s all love, baby…. Lips

@ Marvalus - I'm headed over to my travel agent next week to make my deposit on my trip. I will be spending the Big 4-0 in Tahiti! Damn I can't wait.

@ Regina - It's sad girl that I haven't seen a doggone live performance in almost 20 years. Jesus be a Ticketmaster.

That's 1 down and 9 more to go. LOL!

  • I have to work better on "Treat myself well"
I tend to think of others before myself sometimes to a fault... Even though I love bringing smiles to others, I always have to remember to take care of myself so I will be around a long time to keep making others smile.

    Sara - Amen!

Regina - Age is something, isn't it? I am looking forward to Disney World...I'm at work already, ready to put my plans into action...

    Thanks for coming by!

  • Nice list! you guys are funny with those concerts! We have alot in common. I took my kids to disney world summer 2006, and let me tell you we had a ball. And we had "kids" ranging in age from 12 -22! Taking my kids to Disney had been a goal of mine forever (when I was a kid my mom took my sister and I) and I finally got it done! When you get there head for the "Tower Of Terror"!

Anyway get to work on those goals, and you will accomplish them!

    Blessings,
    Regina

What's going on Soul Sista! I like your list.

Here's what I'd like to accomplish in 2008.

    1) Eat healthier and live a more physically active lifestyle.

    2) Take a faculous trip to the South Pacific...Tahiti in particular

    3) Complete my certificate in Project Management

    4) Do more writing. The more you write, the better you become.

    5) Speak my peace in the moment. Don't wait until later.

    6) Enjoy being 40! Booyah Baby! It's gonna be on for the big 4-0

    7) Read more non-fiction.

    8) Go to a concert. The last concert I saw was in '88 (New Edition, Bobby Brown). Ok that's a goddamn disgrace. LMAO!

    9) Do more socializing. I am a TOTALLY social creature and love to be out and about.

    10)Re decorate my bedroom.
